This project focuses on a detailed revision of Hippopotamidae remains, together with anthracoteres ones, collected in Europe. Through state of the art, 3D data acquisition, and Geometric Morphometrics (GM) in 2D and 3D, coupled with advanced R statistical proxies it will be possible to update Anthracotheriidae-Hippopotamidae systematics and phylogeny while identifying the evolutionary trends and the morphological variability followed by hippopotamoids during the Neogene and Quaternary (e.g swimming capabilities).
