Cristina Sequero López is a specialist in sedimentology, stratigraphy and geochemistry with a
special focus on Mesozoic marine to continental environments. One of the main topics of her
research has been unravelling the facies and sequential architecture of an Upper Jurassic (upper
Kimmeridgian) Iberian shallow carbonate ramp, complemented by chemostratigraphic analysis
for a deeper understanding of the depositional and burial evolution of these deposits (carbon and
oxygen isotopes). She is also expertise in the multi-proxy analysis (carbon and oxygen isotopes,
major and minor trace elements, TOC, biomarkers) on ancient deep-marine sediments to analyse
environmental and biotic changes related to Cretaceous hyperthermal events in the Southern
Iberian Palaeomargin. She obtained her Graduate Degree in Geology at the University of
Granada (Spain) in 2014, and her PhD title in Geology at the Earth Sciences Department of the
University of Zaragoza (Spain). Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the Departamento
de Ciências da Terra of the FCT-NOVA (Caparica, Portugal), as part of the project “Modeling
the role of Iberia in the Mesozoic tetrapod paleobiogeography” PTDC/CTA-PAL/2217/2021,
financed by “Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P./O.E.”. In this project, she performs
sedimentological, stratigraphic, palaeomagnetic and geochemical analyses in Upper Jurassic
successions with relevant palaeontological findings.
